An MVP scope checklist for a usable first release
CodeAstra Tech · Engineering decision guide
Start with the problem
An MVP should let a defined customer complete a useful task. It is not a partial implementation of every feature in a future platform.
Define the scope
Write the user, trigger, inputs, successful result and exceptions for one core workflow. List what will stay manual and who performs that work.
Check the failure cases
Include authentication, data ownership, error handling and basic support in the release scope. They are part of delivering a usable product, even when they are not headline features.
Make the decision
Agree on acceptance checks and explicit non-goals. Use evidence from the first users to decide the next scope instead of automatically building the original backlog.
